Ann Marie Sastry

SASTRY, Ann Marie, American Engineering Professor, University of Michigan.  Co-author of more than 80 scientific publications and 70 awarded and filed patents, has been working on battery technology for two decades.

 

Founder and CEO of Sakti3 a company which aims to revolutionise battery production.  Satki3 is derived from Sakti - Sanskrit for 'power' and 3 - the atomic number for lithium.

 

The batteries are solid state and manufactured by deposition, in a similar way to television screens.  Sastry believes that her batteries will be as easy and inexpensive to produce as computer chips.

 

Her company has received considerable financial backing including a substantial investment by Dyson.
