Henrietta King

KING, Henrietta, American rancher, 1832-1925. On her Texas ranch she bred a new type of cattle called Santa Gertrudis. A cross between a Brahma bull and a Shorthorn, the breed was officially recognised in 1940. Very innovative in many areas, for example she donated land and planned a town there. Henrietta was also one of the first users of cattle dips to prevent tick fever.
