Margaret Shephard

SHEPHARD, Margaret Claire, English plant pathologist, b-1931. During 1981 she invented 2 systemic fungicides, dimethirimol and ethirimol. Throughout her career she also created many other agricultural speciality chemicals. Claire recognised the effects of ICI’s triazole products and used them for plant growth retardation. The fungicides were mainly to prevent plant foliage diseases.
