18 year old Sanjay Puri, from Nottingham High School, has scooped the Duke of York’s Award for Creative Use of Technology.
Sanjay’s ‘Fall Detection and Alert System’ impressed the judges with his proof-of-concept prototype which promises to be a boon for care homes. The system is intended for use with bathroom floors and is designed to allow residents more independence. Sanjay’s flooring system is ‘smart’ and, through sensors, can differentiate between someone walking or falling on the floor. In the event of an accident an alarm is raised.
