Emma Braun

BRAUN, Emma Lucy, American botanist and geologist, 1889-1971. A professor of plant ecology, who did field studies on the taxonomy of flora in the Cincinnati region, then compared them with data from the same region a century before. Changes in flora were evident over the extended period. Her novel system became widely adopted. In 1950 Emma published ‘Deciduous Forests of Eastern North America’. The first woman President of the Ecological Society of America.
