STATON, Claire, English, b-1978. A young inventor and engineer, only age 15 when in partnership with Sarah SKELTON (age 14) to design a car-jack. In 1993 they invented a scissors-jack for cars. Collapse is impossible because of safety-locks. The driver can tell when the car is properly positioned. The framework is then clamped, and the jack removed so the mechanic has space to work.
